Full Job Description

However, due to the specific nature of this particular role, the appointed worker will be expected to and supported to:

  • Confidently and creatively engage children and young people, working alongside them
  • Provide emotional and practical support to young people.
  • Have a sound grasp of child protection, safeguarding processes and safety planning to reduce the risk associated with extra familiar harm, serious youth violence and the effects of trauma.
  • Able to work in a flexible way, sometimes past the end of the day if and when there is a need to ensure the service can meet the needs of children and young people post exposure to trauma.
  • Provide high standard written and verbal assessment of risk and maintain a good standard of case recording.
  • Work in partnership with key agencies such as education, health, social care, police and youth justice services.
  • Confidentiality manage the complexities linked to working with children who have experienced high harm which includes the need to balance their wishes and feelings while working from a best interest approach.
  • Have Experience, Knowledge and a competent understanding of working with children and young people impacted by exploitation, serious violence and mental health worries.
  • Have the ability to recognise and respond to the equality, diversity, inclusion and equity needs of children, young people and their families.
  • Be conscious and confident when considering personal safety, abide by Barnardo's policies and procedures around lone working and risk reduction.

  • Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to 30 April 2027 (possible extension) and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
