Full Job Description

The Deaf Pupil Provision (DPP) is a key area of the school, and the successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting a creative and modern curriculum that fulfils and challenges the needs and aspirations of our young people. At the DPP we offer a Total Communication approach, meaning that we support the pupils using the correct communication mode and language to match their needs, this may be through BSL or SSE depending of the needs of the pupil.

We are looking to recruit a full time, highly motivated and outstanding Communication Support Worker to support our Deaf pupils. This is a key role within the school for someone who really wants to make a difference to our young people in a safe, respectful, learning environment. We are looking for a new member of staff to join our team in 2025.,

  • BSL Level 2 or higher with a commitment to further training in this area (E)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of deafness on a student and the implications for learning and development (E)
  • Ability to demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children (E)
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent appropriate qualification) (E)
  • Ability to evidence effective continuous professional development (E)
  • Relevant experience of working with children in an education setting (D)
  • Ability to evidence effective communication using a range of skills and strategies to overcome communication barriers, with a wide audience / range of stakeholders (E)
  • Ability to evidence excellent IT skills on a wide range of programmes and software (E)

    Salary £19,997
  • (31.25 hours per week, 08.35-15.20), term-time plus 5 inset days
