Full Job Description

Lead and deploy the Business Units Quality and Performance Excellence strategy ensuring alignment to the Amentum organisations Enterprise Quality Strategy appropriately tailored to BU needs. The role is responsible for ensuring an elevated quality culture where everyone realises their role in quality, making sure that each one of our products, our people, our processes and services demonstrably meets or exceeds their stated needs. The role includes leadership of the BUs Quality Assurance and Quality Control resources within the BU, ensuring sufficient competent resources are identified, budgeted for, and deployed in support of the BU's portfolio. As part of the Defence and Asset Solutions leadership team, this role will contribute to strategic decision making, collaboration across functions to drive organisational goals and play a key role in sustained superior performance.,

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, quality ownership, and continuous improvement across all functions and levels of the organisation. Promote knowledge sharing and teamwork to ensure consistent application of quality best practices across the business unit. Drive employee engagement by instilling a shared vision of quality excellence and accountability.
  • Drive performance excellence through application of the Business Management System (BMS) and a consistent approach to applying enterprise tools.
  • Ensure risk-based business assurance activities are performed with respect to conduct of business activity
  • Lead on Process/Performance improvement within the BU and support the use of improvement tools and techniques in support of a continual improvement agenda.
  • Drive the integration of emerging technologies and innovative methodologies to enhance quality assurance and performance excellence. Leverage data from inspections, audits, and performance metrics to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement. Implement a structured approach to data-driven decision-making, ensuring continuous alignment with business objectives. Develop and present comprehensive quality performance reports to senior leadership, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
  • Promote the adoption of digital tools for efficient monitoring, reporting, and management of quality metrics.
  • Lead the quality function within the BU ensuring appropriately SQEP resources are deployed in D&AS projects and programs. Develop and implement strategies for up-skilling and professional growth of the quality team, fostering an inclusive and high-performing workforce. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide mentorship, and create tailored development plans to enhance team capability. Ensure succession planning and talent retention by identifying and nurturing high-potential employees.
  • Provide quality technical expertise on relevant topics such as Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Design Quality management, Audits Corrective Actions, and others as needed
  • Identify, develop and implement new quality business/client offerings that can enhance delivery, client satisfaction, and business opportunities. Act as the primary representative for quality-related discussions with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align quality objectives with broader business goals.
  • Participate with Business Development, as requested, regarding Quality and Performance Excellence support in Sales pursuits.
  • Lead the BUs internal Audit Schedule through the BU team of quality professionals, including those that mitigate project risks, ensuring client requirements are being met, and ensuring that the BMS is being deployed and remains suitable and effective to meet organisational requirements, that D&AS meets its requirements of ISO and other certifications held at a BU and Business Line level.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure proactive identification and resolution of quality issues, enhancing client satisfaction. Develop action plans and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on audit findings, ensuring alignment with industry regulations and organisational standards. Lead external audit readiness and ensure compliance with broader regulatory frameworks.
  • Support project governance activities, providing quality and performance excellence oversight of project work through project initiation, planning, execution and close-out through implementation and application of the BMS, client Quality requirements and any other statutory, regulatory or other applicable quality standards
  • Reporting of quality and performance excellence metrics to the GDBO/BU Leadership, and identifying and implementing course corrections as required

  • Good active listener and influencer at all levels of the organisation to address conformance to requirements
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to address operational and delivery challenges
  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • Recognised as a practicing Quality Professional, ideally a member of the Chartered Quality Institute or equivalent
  • Familiar with the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 19443 and the organisations BMS
  • Familiar with the requirements of NATO AQAPs with respect to quality requirements
  • Have an internal management systems auditor qualification.
  • Have good Quality knowledge with appropriate qualifications (MSc, CQI Diploma, Certificate, Six-Sigma)
  • Have recent and relevant experience in a senior operational or business support role within a large, complex, project-driven organisation.
  • Management and leadership skills certification and demonstrable experience
