Full Job Description

The Chair will provide the independent leadership and strategic vision for the Partnership as well as robust scrutiny, holding partners to account to ensure the best outcomes for vulnerable adults and our communities. The Independent Chair will represent and promote the reputation and work of the Partnership at both a regional and national level and so should be an effective communicator which on occasion will include contact with members of the public and the media.

Buckinghamshire Adult Safeguarding Partnership (BSAB) is seeking a highly effective and experienced Independent Safeguarding Adults Chair. We are seeking an individual who can evidence leadership experience at a senior level including across multi-agency partnership settings. You should also possess a good operational and strategic understanding of the adult safeguarding agenda. Importantly, we are looking for an individual who has the confidence to provide independent, constructive challenges to BASB partners and organisations so that we improve outcomes for adults at risk of abuse or neglect. You will also actively promote engagement with adults who need care and support, their families, and advocates to ensure their voices are heard and acted upon within the Board's work., If you are an experienced senior leader with an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding adults and improving the outcomes for those at risk of abuse and/or neglect, then we would like to hear from you. You should have relevant professional experience in leadership roles in identified sectors (but not limited to) Health & Social care, Criminal Justice, Education, Police, Probation, Voluntary or Academic sectors. You should be able to work collaboratively, influence others and possess both excellent communication and negotiation skills.

    A commitment of up to a maximum of 36 days per year (some flexibility for additional days by prior agreement. Payment will be circa £600.00 per day with additional mileage and accommodation with prior agreement (usually outside County commitments). This role is within IRS35. This appointment is made initially on a 3-year basis, with an option to extend by an additional 2 years subject to agreement from relevant partners. The role will utilise a hybrid model where appropriate with a mixture of virtual and face-to-face meetings.
