Full Job Description
Our son is kind, quiet, a little shy and although he is not very confident, he enjoys social interaction. He is a football fan and supports Arsenal. He is in his early thirties.
We are looking for a buddy/support worker to help him on his journey to improve his health and fitness, by accessing activities such as the gym, participating in sports, and going for walks. You will need to be motivational without being pushy, quietly supportive and encouraging along the way.
Although he is a considerate smoker, we are looking for someone who is either a non-smoker or someone who will refrain from smoking during working hours.
An understanding of psychosis would be useful.
Duties include:
Transportation
Companionship
To assist in accessing and participating in social and leisure activities e.g. gym, walking, sports etc.
To work with him to plan activities linked to improving health and fitness.
Candidate qualities
Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the workplace
Reliable with good timekeeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Creative
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
