Full Job Description

Flexible Working: Option for either day work or shift work. Day Work: 36hrs week Monday to Friday (08:00-16:00). While there will an opportunity for some home working, this will likely be one day a week, and subject to business need. Shift Work: 4 days on, 4 days off (7am-7pm)., At MI5 we work hard to keep our country safe, and it's equally important that we protect our people, places, and property. When you join us as a Building Manager, you'll help us do just that - from one, or several locations in the London area. Our Estate team are responsible for managing a collection of properties and delivering high quality building services, facilities management, support services, projects and workplace change across a wide variety of building types. It's all about keeping us operational so we can maintain our critical front-line business function. Driven by our passion to drive quality and improvement, the Estates team provide core services from engineering and catering to vehicles and stationery throughout the UK. We set the standard for what good looks like, translating business requirements into actionable outcomes. Wherever or whatever the requirement our team ensure the smooth running of services, seeking the best solutions for small to medium-sized business problems, carefully evaluating the different options and choosing the most cost-effective solution. And we pride ourselves on supporting the work of MI5. This role is essential to our ability to deliver an excellent user experience for our customers. As a Building Manager you'll shape and evolve the role, driving quality and improvement, implementing and managing change, seeking the best resolution. You'll monitor and control the operation of plant and systems within the building effectively, with minimal disruption and downtime. This includes electrical distribution, mechanical systems, security equipment, building management systems and UPS systems. You'll continually identify areas of improvement and take ownership of problems, finding solutions and delivering high-quality outcomes, while always ensuring regulatory and health and safety compliance. Using your communication and planning skills, you'll control finances for all maintenance works, whilst always seeking the best value for money, ensuring our estate strategy is aligned with the business.

We're looking for people who have an aptitude to learn and grow. Ideally, you'll have recent experience and competent knowledge working in management, operations, and leadership, with a mechanical or electrical background and/or have a minimum HNC qualification or equivalent (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 4) in a related field such as management. Preferably you'll have experience using a Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system. The ability to manage professional relationships is key, such as handling complaints from customers and maintaining professional relationships with tact and sensitivity. You'll work well with others and make evidence-based decisions for the team. While a good understanding of plant criticality maintenance regimes and life cycle planning would be beneficial, it's far more important that you're able to undertake work audits and provide reports for action.,

  • A minimum Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent and/or demonstrable experience working in management, operations, and leadership - assessed at application sift.

  • This role requires the highest security clearance, known as Developed Vetting (DV). It's something everyone in the UK Intelligence Community undertakes.     £50,412. Shift work will come with the addition of 12.5% shift allowance, weekend premium and contractual overtime, You'll receive a starting salary of £50,412 plus 12.5% shift allowance (weekend premium and contractual overtime for shift work only).
