Full Job Description
The Estates Department are looking to recruit a highly motivated Building Technician, (Plumbing BIAS), to work as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team primarily within the Scarborough/Bridlington area.
The department provides management, development, maintenance and operational support for the Trust's buildings and engineering infrastructure. The role is critical to the Estates Department's very busy maintenance support service, and is demanding covering a wide range of engineering services for you to hone your skills on. The role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning, and maintenance, of a range of engineering services in the Trust's clinical, and non-clinical facilities, within a very busy directorate, and to be part of a team that is constantly working to improve the quality and safety of the Trust's healthcare facilities.
The successful candidate will be based at Scarborough Hospital but must be willing to work at any of the Trust's sites. You must be flexible regarding hours of duty and will be expected to undertake appropriate training, including Health and Safety training.
The successful candidate will have a good general knowledge of building services and engineering maintenance, backed up by BTech, City and Guilds Craft Certificate or NVQ 3 qualification in an engineering discipline, (preferably mechanical engineering).
The successful candidate must be able to work co-operatively as part of a team, comprisingskilled and semi-skilled maintenance colleagues, and have demonstrable experience of working within a maintenance environment. In addition, the successful candidate should be reliable, resilient, enthusiastic, motivated and be able to work under pressure, with minimum supervision.
The successful candidate will also be required to participate in an on-call/out of hours rota, for which an additional payment will be made. They must have the ability to transport themselves and equipment throughout the community over the course of a normal working day.
We offer a range of benefits to support our staff including:
Access to the NHS Pension Scheme, providing generous benefits upon retirement, as well as a lump sum and pension for dependants.
27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service)
A generous relocation package of up to 30% of salary (capped at £18k) for hard to fill positions where relocation would be an expectation to undertake the role fully. If you would like to discuss a potential relocation package, please speak to the recruiting department/manager.
A variety of different types of paid and unpaid leave covering emergency and planned leave
Confidential advice and support on personal, work, family, and relationship issues, 24/7, from our Employee Assistance Programme
