Full Job Description
Are you a skilled and motivated Building Surveyor looking for a new challenge? Do you have a passion for maintaining and improving property standards? If so, Rutland County Council wants you! If you looking for an exciting role that will provide you with an opportunity to be involved in, and ensuring the conservation and operational maintenance of a broad range of buildings, such as commercial property, administrative offices, and buildings of architectural or historic importance? Make a real difference in the community by ensuring our properties support vital public services., Duties will include:
- Comprehensive Surveying: Provide a full range of building surveying services, including condition surveys, defect diagnosis, and dilapidations.
- Project Management: Prepare specifications, drawings, and contract documents for repair and maintenance works. Manage minor construction contracts to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all works comply with relevant standards, health and safety legislation, and council policies.
- Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and manage repair and renewal works to the council's corporate property, ensuring properties are well-maintained and fit for purpose.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and external partners to deliver high-quality property services.
- Financial Management: Assist in managing budgets, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring financial efficiency in all projects We support professional growth with opportunities for continuous learning and career development.
- A degree or HNC/HND in a Construction-related discipline
- At least two years of experience in a building surveying role, or one year of relevant experience post-professional membership of RICS
- Strong knowledge of building structures, services, and common defects
- Experience in building project design, CAD drawing, and contract management
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A commitment to providing high-quality customer service, To be successful in this role - you may have experience working in the following roles:.
- Building Surveying experience within or for a Local Authority.
- Estimating and surveying experience within a private surveying practice.
