Full Job Description

The Court of Protection is the judicial body responsible for making decisions relating to the management of finances and other affairs of those individuals who lack the mental capacity to do so themselves. As one of the UK's leading firms of solicitors, we have a dedicated and experienced team who specialise in all matters relating to the Court of Protection. We help clients who are responsible for managing someone else's affairs, those who are concerned about the ability of someone else to manage their own affairs or another person's affairs and clients who may be concerned about their own ability to manage their affairs.
Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

We are currently looking for a Building Surveyor/Consultant to join our Court of Protection team. We stand out for our unrivalled breadth and depth of experience in Court of Protection matters and are ranked Band1 in the Chambers guide.

Ideally, we would like the successful candidates to be based out of our Cambridge or London office however, much of your time will be spent on site visits as the various schemes progress.

This role is very emotionally rewarding, you will be supporting our clients from often unsuitable property solutions, into environments that considerably enhance their independent living skills and everyday life.

This is predominantly a consultancy role with some elements of project management as/when required.

  • You will be supporting clients with additional mobility needs.

  • Undertake adaptation schemes to their properties to improve their use of the environment.

  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with our clients and their families.

  • Ideally the successful candidate will hold a Professional Construction related membership - RICS or CIOB and have experience in adaptation or residential properties for wheelchair users, Building Surveying/Construction and/or Project Management.

  • A construction related qualification/degree would be desirable. The ability to work to specified deadlines and have excellent communication and organisational skills is a must.
