Full Job Description
This is a business critical role responsible for the accurate generation and monitoring of income expenditure for a business that has financial activity of nearly £40M. The post holder will provide detailed analytical support on RMS business activities. This will entail providing detailed analysis of income and expenditure across all business activities. You will also provide support to a wide range of business functions including maintaining controls of key activities such as the costing and monitoring of all staff within RMS, carrying out trend analysis of high value spend areas such as Fleet, Materials and Sub-Contractors and maintaining accurate controls for income collection. The post holder will have an attentiveness to detail and a high degree of numerical accuracy, alongside the ability to work to deadlines. To be successful in this role you must have: A good working understanding and awareness of the Budget Cycle. Knowledge of local housing demand and the needs of residents. The ability to collect, validate, input and analyse a number of different data sets and be able to perform data gathering and data validations to ensure continual robustness of data. Significant experience of at least one of:
- Working in a Local Authority Housing environment.
- Working in a Local Authority Financial Service.
- Use of a Housing Management System such as Northgate, Service Connect or TASK.
- Dealing with Internal and External Housing Stakeholders including but not limited to Tenants, Operatives, various Council Officers of various levels, Suppliers and Contractors Ability to communicate clearly, courteously and patiently with operatives, service managers and where necessary members of the public and Newham Councillors. Able to use a range of IT systems.

The Repairs and Maintenance Service (RMS) is the London Borough of Newham in-house housing repairs provider based in the heart of the borough at Bridge Road Depot. RMS employs just over 250 staff to deliver a comprehensive range of services to the residents of Newham. RMS receives around 1,000 repair orders a week and provides an in-house solution to the following types of work: - Responsive repairs (all trades)
- OOH 24/7 365 emergency service
- Voids refurbishment
- Kitchen and bathroom replacement programmes
- FRA works
- Water Quality Services
- Disabled Adaptations
- Planned Electrical testing and works
- UPVc window and FED replacement programmes
- Gas Servicing, breakdowns and renewals
- Estates and communal works programmes
- Highways and street scene repairs The role is based within the Business Development Team who provides key support to these front line services and acts as a conduit between RMS and Newham's Corporate Services
