The Finance and Risk Technology team has a Business Architecture practice that guides transformational IT improvements supporting all of Citi's global Finance and Risk functions. As part of the team, the Business Architect should aim to leverage broad functional domain knowledge, deep experience of influencing IT architecture change, and outstanding communication skills to drive transformation. There is an expectation to lead collaborations with Finance and Risk Functions, Technology, Operations and Business teams to articulate a comprehensive future vision of Citi's end-to-end Finance and Risk functional architecture. The Business Architect should illustrate how critical Finance and Risk capabilities must evolve to meet Citi's strategic transformation objectives and guide and catalyze the evolution of the supporting information technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business analysis, enterprise architecture and data architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Finance and Risk, understand their strategic objectives and identify opportunities for business process optimization.

  • Describe current and establish future state business architectures, anchored to business processes and functions


  • Partner with data architects to illustrate critical data dependencies and influence data architecture to support definition of current, interim and target state business architectures

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations on business strategy, technology investments, and organizational change management


  • Work closely with all technical partners supporting Finance and Risk to align strategic technical investments to the target state business architecture or justify any deviations


  • Contribute thought leadership to help establish the Business Architecture practice for Finance and Risk Technology

  • Ensure that the activities in Finance and Risk Technology are aligned to the enterprise-wide objectives defined by the CIO Council and CDO Council

  • Develop and evangelize business architecture principles aimed at optimizing straight-through processing and guaranteeing the timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and internal consistency of financial reporting

  • Embrace Citi architecture principles and standards and counsel engineering teams on how to apply them in Finance and Risk deliverables

  • Champion continuous improvement the business architecture discipline at Citi - driving adoption of industry best practices, improved tooling, and training

    Proven experience in an engineering and/or architecture capacity providing information systems in support of business functions

  • Broad and deep knowledge of standard business processes supporting the functions of Finance, Risk, and Regulatory Reporting ideally in the Financial Services industry

  • Outcome oriented, with a successful track record of delivering business process improvement outcomes demanding cross-functional collaboration and change to enterprise information architectures

  • Experience working in matrix environments and partnering with virtual teams

  • Self-motivated, independent, multi-tasker, willing and able to take ownership of various parts of an initiative

  • Ability to effectively deliver under time pressure, clarifying ambiguity as needed to deliver against expectations

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal) which enable engagement and influence of stakeholders at all levels within the organization, from technical developers to the savviest business/executive leaders

  • Methodical, attention to detail


  • Familiarity with technologies, concepts and best practices employed in modern enterprise information architectures


  • Any relevant certifications such as TOGAF are a plus

  • Any experience of large scale Finance and Risk implementations (e.g. Transformation of Reporting, Ledger/ERP, FP&A, Treasury) a major plus
