The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. The Customer Services Group brings together Asylum & Human Rights, Asylum Support and Dispersal, Asylum Accommodation Centres, Resettlement Group, Passports, Citizenship & Civil Registration, Customer Operations Support Services and UK Visas & Immigration. As a major operational arm of the Home Office, we play a vital role in supporting the economy and cultural life of the UK. Sitting within Asylum Support, Resettlement and Accommodation (ASRA), the Asylum Support Accommodation Programme is responsible for delivering a suite of new and transformed non-detained asylum accommodation, and support service contracts which meet all the Department's requirements, ensuring they provide effective, scalable accommodation with a high degree of flexibility to address future changes. We are looking for a highly motivated, well-organised self-starter to join the team to help deliver the future Asylum Accommodation system working alongside the Business Case and Benefits Lead. We are following the Hybrid working model so you will need to be office based for 60% of your time. We are also a national team, so you can be based in any region although there may also be a requirement for occasional travel. This is an exciting opportunity to hone and develop your Business Case and Benefits Management Skills working on one of the highest priority programmes within the Home Office. This role will report to the Business Case and Benefits Manager Lead. Benefits main responsibilities:

  • Support the Business Case manager in preparing and updating the benefits elements of the business case working with specialists as required.
  • Develop the benefits management strategy taking into account the wider organisation methodology.
  • Oversee the implementation of the programme benefits realisation plan including change control. Identify risks to benefits realisation. Develop and propose mitigations.
  • Establish the mechanism for co-ordinated and consistent tracking and reporting of benefits through the programme lifecycle and into realisation.
  • Co-ordinate workshops and other activities to develop benefit profiles, maps, and realisation plans.
  • Work with stakeholders and wider benefits management community to ensure benefits are identified, understood, owned and maximised. Brief key stakeholders ahead of benefits reviews.
  • Engages with ASRA and Customer Services portfolio office to enhance and improve benefits management best practice.
  • Tracking and reporting - Establish the mechanism for the tracking and reporting of benefits through the project lifecycle and into realisation.
  • Business Case main responsibilities:
  • Oversee the production of business cases with the Business Case Lead by supporting its development and drafting.
  • Organise and coordinate workshops with specialists to gather and discuss appropriate information to complete the Business cases.
  • Establish the governance pathway and prepare business cases supporting documents for submission to the appropriate boards, ensuring any actions are allocated an owner and are completed.
  • Provide guidance and advice to project teams on the requirements and development of business case, using organisational templates and HMT 5 case model.
  • Manage interactions with key stakeholders to support the production of business cases and ensure their involvement in requirements.
  • Use lessons learned from similar projects to inform business cases preparation.
  • Ensure all relevant organisational factors for change are incorporated within a comprehensive business cases
