Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Continuity Consultant to join our Data Protection, Information Security, Supplier Assurance, Business Continuity and Group Insurances (DISC) team.

We are looking for an individual who has Business Continuity and Incident Management experience and wishes to develop their career in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will have responsibility for a variety of tasks focused on ensuring NFU Mutual has appropriate plans; processes and skills in place to manage group wide and local incidents and business continuity scenarios within risk appetite.

Areas of responsibility will include managing disruptive incidents, such as those involving IT, property, and financial crime investigations, in accordance with NFU Mutual policies and procedures. This entails engaging with various business areas to conduct Business Impact Assessments and risk assessments, which are crucial for identifying critical services and their key dependencies. Additionally, the role involves designing and delivering Business Continuity exercises. During these exercises, working with business areas to address any gaps or vulnerabilities identified is essential to ensure comprehensive preparedness.

The position also requires maintaining and developing the Group's Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) to align with industry best practices. Developing a robust training programme is another key responsibility, ensuring that individuals within the Incident Management Framework possess the necessary skills and knowledge. Furthermore, it is important to carry out lessons learned activities to drive quality improvements across plans, processes, tools, and personnel. High-risk lessons learned findings must be tracked to prevent reasonably foreseeable repeat failures.

Lastly, the role includes undertaking horizon scanning to identify and assess risks related to departmental and Group-wide continuity. This involves anticipating the implications of changes, disruptions, or threats, both internal and external, such as weather events, and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to mitigate these risks.

The successful candidate will develop their business continuity, disaster recovery and operational resilience knowledge in this role and be able to support business change and procurement projects from an operational risk perspective.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in-role within business continuity

  • Experience leading and managing incidents

  • The ability to build connections with and work with stakeholders at all levels of the business.

  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally.

  • Good judgement skills and being able to work on your own initiative whilst working to multiple deadlines.

  • The successful candidate will also hold the CBCI qualification.
