The business data engineer working in the Business Improvements team plays a crucial role in designing and implementing systems that improve business processes by leveraging data. Their overall purpose involves creating a robust data infrastructure that enables efficient collection, processing, and analysis of data to support informed decision-making and business optimization.,
- Independently develop solutions (workflows, small apps, and dashboards) on the Skywise platform.
- Ensure data is prepared and available for analytics and reporting tools.
- Work closely with data analysts, and group teams to align data sources with business needs.
- Support the roll out of MIS into the engineering teams and support functions, setting up efficient processes to support each phase of the project.
- Work collaboratively with teams cross functionally between all sites of AHUK.
- Ensure data integrity and quality by implementing validation processes and error detection mechanisms.
- Optimise data workflows for faster and more efficient processing, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
- Automate manual processes related to data collection, reporting, and analysis to improve speed and reduce human error.
- Streamline repetitive tasks and optimise workflows for efficiency, directly contributing to business improvements.
- Work with business teams to understand key pain points and operational inefficiencies.
- Translate business requirements into technical data solutions that support performance tracking and improvement initiatives.
- Enable real-time or near-real-time data access to help businesses make timely, informed decisions.
- Develop scalable solutions to handle increasing amounts of data as business needs evolve.
- Regular travel to other AHUK UK based sites, also Airbus Commercial and Defence & Space. The data engineer in the Business Improvements team ensures that data infrastructure and pipelines are designed to support continuous improvement in business operations, making data more actionable and leading to strategic business enhancements.
- Proficient with Skywise platform and tools e.g. Contour, Code-Workbook, Code,Slate and Ontology definitions.
- Proficient with Google products, app script, app sheet, google automations and google sheet functionality.
- Expertise in data analysis methodologies and processes and their linkages to other processes.
- Proficient SQL skills and experience with relational databases and database design.
- Knowledge of Python,PL/SQL, Java Script, HTML & CSS.
- Ability to understand and analyse existing business processes and suggest improvements based on data insights and areas for automation.
- Understanding of key business metrics and KPIs, and how to leverage data to influence business strategies.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical data solutions that align with company objectives. Essential

- Dashboard creation in Skywise ,Google Looker /other comparable software.
- Programming skills (PLSQL/JS)

- Ability to liaise with non-technical teams to define and refine project requirements, ensuring data-driven business improvements. Education, Qualifications or Training Essential
- STEM HND
- SC or higher clearance Desirable
- Knowledge of airline and MRO operations.
- Familiarity with integrating machine learning models into data pipelines.
- Business / Industrial experience.
- Application / Software development. Additional requirements
- Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance.
