Full Job Description

The Business Development Manager position is a key role operating within the UK market and is one of our largest commercial priority regional markets at Bupa Global;

  • The role of the Business Development Manager is to act as the IPMI expert supporting UKI wider BDM team to identify and convert IPMI opportunities in the IFA and wealth management segment.
  • To develop new/existing business relationships across all business lines including Private Medical Insurance (PMI) and international Private Medical Insurance (IPMI)
  • To research and identify business opportunities within a panel of IFA and wealth manager Intermediaries
  • The role will require significant face to face business engagement with distributors and delivery of strong and consistent sales growth. The selected candidate will be the day to day face of Bupa Global & UKI to their panel of distributors have sound commercial acumen, be an effective communicator, possess advanced presentation skills, be a credible business enabler and have a strong track record of auditable business growth in the healthcare market. The role is pivotal in developing new commercial distribution opportunity, gathering robust broker/distribution data to assist in future planning cycles; as well as gathering competitor and market insight. You'll help us make it happen by:
  • Accountable for the performance and delivery of meeting/exceeding targets, ensuring maximum productivity.
  • Accurate forecasting and management of business pipeline to achieve/exceed business objectives
  • Devise and implement a business strategy to develop a best in class business area, liaising across UK and BG Insurance to ensure business priorities are delivered and supported with appropriate levels of priority and urgency
  • Develop productive relationships with IFAs/Wealth managers with regular reviewing meetings to discuss sales performance
  • Delivery of engaging proposition presentations to Intermediaries
  • Providing product, proposition, underwriting and system training to advisers to promote Bupa Group benefits to their customers.
  • Representing Bupa at trade and network events
  • Supporting with account planning and strategic network engagement
  • Regular liaison with sales support functions to ensure delivery of a good customer experience, delivered within pre agreed service levels, ensuring no duplication of effort across all teams
  • Analyse reports, data and information, anticipating market changes; leading to refinement of plans and development of solutions to deliver/exceed business growth in a rapidly changing environment
  • Responsible for driving efficiencies and process improvements in order to reduce operational costs, improve sales/retention effectiveness and provide optimum contact with customers
  • Understand and comply with all legal and BG licensing requirements

  • Field sales experience essential in the IFA/Networks, PMI /Protection intermediary market with an established contact personal network
  • Sales experience in the HNW/Private clients segment highly advantageous.
  • Highly Motivated to get out and visit Intermediaries. Strong organisational skills to manage time effectively.
  • Strong relationship management skills to build networks of internal and external contacts
  • Experience of effective sales management techniques and practices
  • A dynamic, credible, and articulate presenter
  • Proven sales and negotiation skills
  • Resilience and confidence in own ability to succeed
  • Ability to focus on 'big picture' and to make strategically important decisions within agreed parameters without referral
  • Able to assimilate and analyse information and data from a variety of sources and use this to plan effectively to ensure objectives are met

    £43,000 - £54,000 per annum + sales incentive bonus dependent upon experience and qualifications Full Time Permanent - 37.5 hours per week, Our benefits are designed to make health happen for our people.
