Full Job Description
As Business Development Manager, you're someone who proactively develops strong relationships, and takes full ownership for generating profitable business. You'll use your expertise to build, manage and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including all key customers and networks to deliver strategy and increase opportunities for the business. You'll work at least 60 % of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. What you'll be doing:
- Proactively develop strong relationships with a designated panel of brokers, taking full ownership for the generation and retention of profitable business.
- Build, manage and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities and ensure that long-term pipeline is realised by ensuring broker / client engagement.
- Understand and communicate internally within AXA, the nature of the brokers' business, the marketplace and the potential of the relationship.
- Plan, forecast and set the operational targets to achieve the strategic development plan.
- Review progress of initiatives against plan and take action as appropriate.
- Identify new deals and markets, assess feasibility and project manage the implementation.
- Effectively promote and deploy AXA's strategy, product range, propositions and key differentiators to leverage commercial opportunities.

- Good understanding of underwriting and risk management principles - essential.
- Established networking and relationship building skills - essential
- Business Development experience within the Commercial Insurance market.
- Strong product knowledge.
- Mid-market knowledge and generation experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop reciprocal relationships with intermediaries.
- Awareness of profitability of business within the intermediary channel.
- ACII qualification or equivalent, and degree level educated - preferred. As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
