This role will be blended with time in the office at Ampthill, client sites meetings across the UK and some home working (occasional travel to the US). This post benefits from our 4xFlex working pattern offering a 4 day working week (Mon - Thu).

  • Proven Business Development experience (£25+ million programmes) selling into Defence, (Platform and Equipment Support preferred)
  • Strong senior level professional network within target markets across industry peers, and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, technical activities, schedules and contractual issues
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of spiral development, post design services and through life support (LIOS)
  • Exerts influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organisation
  • Ability to develop new business plans and operationalise the market strategy
  • Ability to effectively work within a multi-functional team
  • Clear and impactful communication skills with effective inter-personal skills
  • Desirable skills
  • Experience in the US DoD FMS and DCS processes with a firm grasp of UK/US acquisition frameworks and commercial options
  • Understand and experience with export rules and regulations and ITAR applicability, A self-starter with strong domain knowledge with evidenced business development capability and tangible success. Able to understand the technology, capability and future support requirements of the UK MoD Land domain and their impact on the UK Customer. Ability to understand the political, technical, commercial, and financial aspects of a sensitive market engaging effectively with the stakeholder community including (and not limited to) the British Army, DE&S, wider MoD and wider Industry.
  • This role will see the incumbent take responsibility for owning the business development and capture process in the UK whilst working in complete alignment with their US counterparts. Someone who has understanding and experience with campaign planning and execution, position-to-win strategies and strategic stakeholder engagement able to work both individually and as part of both niche and expansive teams, recognising the differing demands of the Corporation. A tenacious yet considered individual able to operate and deliver in a complex enterprise to balance customer and corporate demands and expectations.
