Full Job Description

A high-achieving secondary school in the vibrant borough of Sutton is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Business Studies and Economics. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025. The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both Business Studies and Economics across Key Stages 4 and 5. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum for both subjects, inspiring students to develop a strong understanding of business principles, economic concepts, and their real-world applications.
  • Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress in both subjects, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including case studies, real-world examples, and data analysis, to enhance students' learning experiences in both Business Studies and Economics.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Business and Economics department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to providing a well-rounded education.

    A degree in Business Studies, Economics, or a related field with strong competence in both disciplines.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the KS4 and KS5 Business Studies and Economics curricula.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for both business and economics education.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
