Job Title: Business Manager Reports to: GP Partners-Practice Manager Hours per week: 24 Hours - 3 daysDate: September 2024 Purpose of Role As the Business Manager you are a key member of the practice team and will be expected to demonstrate competence in managing the finances of the practice, by supporting the partners to develop and implement processes to achieve targets of QOF and enhanced services. You will directly contribute to profit improvement by exploring areas for increasing income and reducing costs. You will be competent in managing and liaising on all aspects of practice finance, QOF, DES, enhanced services and confident in working closely with our PCN and other community partners to derive maximum income. Previous primary care management experience is essential for this role. Key Responsibilities This job description covers the major areas of the Business Managers responsibility however the requirements of the role may vary and you will be expected to support the partners
to achieve profitability. Finance Responsible for the finances of the practice o Ensuring the organisational requirements of the practice contracts are fully met and complied with. o Supporting the partners to develop and implement processes to achieve clinical targets of QOF and enhanced services. o Directly contributing to profit improvement by exploring areas for increasing income and reducing costs. o Analysing data relating to clinical commissioning as appropriate and contributing to planning and organisation. o Development and control of budgets and financial systems. o Preparation of financial budgets and cash-flow forecasts. o Liaising with our accountants, bank and business insurance companies as appropriate or as directed by the partners. o Presentation of year-end accounts. o Overseeing the administration of the NHS Pension and Stakeholder Pension Schemes. o Liaising with NHSE, the ICB, PCN and payment agencies regarding queries with payments relating to the contract,
e.g. enhanced services. o Managing the Partners drawings in consultation with our accountants. o Ensuring the practice maintains compliance with its NHS contractual obligations. Information Management and Technology Supporting the IT Lead as needed with their responsibility to: o Ensure the use of appropriate information governance systems, to manage information within the practice and with interaction with external organisations. o Ensure all Practice IT and telephone systems are functioning effectively. o Ensure that staff are appropriately trained in using relevant IT systems. o Ensure the IG toolkit and GDPR compliance requirements are met. o Advise on future IT changes including financial implications. o All CQRS submissions including FFT. Premises and Equipment Represent the Practice to negotiate leasing contracts and their renewals Liaise with NHSE in notional rent review (every 3 years) Ensure property owned by the partners is safe, effective and fit
for purpose; supporting the Practice Manager with their responsibilities around premises maintenance and equipment. Care Quality Commission Oversee and maintain compliance with CQC regulations.
