Full Job Description

The Specialist Perinatal Service is a passionate, dynamic, and committed team looking to recruit a business manager to work alongside the Team Manager. Previous experience in perinatal mental health is not essential, as we pride ourselves on providing extensive training and development opportunities. We are dedicated to high-quality, evidence-based practice.
The successful candidate will receive a thorough induction with strong support to settle into the role. The team manages small caseloads of pregnant or post-natal women and birthing persons with moderate to severe mental illness, supporting them and their families during this critical time.
The post holder plays a key role in the Perinatal team by developing performance information, analysing data, submitting statutory returns, and supporting service improvement. They will also design and manage care group information systems and ensure their effective use by managers.
Additionally, the Business Manager leads business functions, producing performance reports, business cases, and collaborating with external agencies to achieve integrated information., Scope and Authority:
The post holder will be responsible for:
+ Designing and managing the operation of care group specific information systems.
+ Develop administrative working protocols and practices across the trust wide care group administration support.
+ Assist the team in developing, implementing and maintaining care group specific policies, protocols and related systems.
+ Representing and making decisions on behalf of the care group which relates to either performance, or business decisions as delegated by clinical and operational leadership.
+ Supporting the work of the Team in the completion of their tasks specifically ensuring auditable completion of performance and risk / safety tasks.
+ Having delegated budgetary responsibility
+ Line manage staff
+ Proactively engaging in Trust-wide policy development, personally ensuring recommendations from Serious Untoward Incidents (SUIs), near misses, complaints and other incidents are shared and benefit all care groups.
+ Representing the care group at internal and external meetings as instructed. The Business Manager is the specialist for the management and provision of performance information and will work on own initiative, with significant discretion to develop performance information systems and will work within broad guidance from the clinical and operational leadership.
Performance Information and Systems:
+ To develop key working relationships with key people within the Trust to help support and develop the business of the care group and to play an active part in developing and achieving a culture of performance management.
+ A major part of the role will be to initiate, design, develop and manage a comprehensive set of systems to support to the Service Director and ensure the smooth running of the care group. This will include ensuring that intra care group communication systems are in place and that routine care group-based audit processes are in place and managed effectively and that information systems to manage these are established and in use.
+ Initiate and develop new data sets by identifying requirements, designing and implementing data collection processes and reviewing outputs.
+ Promote and facilitate access and use of performance information for senior managers, clinical and non-clinical staff to assist in the delivery of services. Ensuring new service developments are in keeping with current national and local targets.
+ To act as a central point and expert for queries and information on all matters relating to performance within the care group.
+ To lead on the production, analysis, useful presentation and dissemination of information to key people within deadlines to aid decision-making for service improvements and changes; to be responsible for the analysis, investigation and resolution of anomalies and issues.
+ To work with and manage business sensitive information and establish systems appropriately.
+ Ensure that the care group has comprehensive performance management arrangements in place including audit trails, so that the clinical and operational leadership have accurate and timely information on service activity against national, commissioning and internal targets. These arrangements will require the post holder to undertake analysis of activity and assist the Service Director with financial performance information to identify trends and variances and take delegated actions as necessary.
+ Ensure that the Performance / Business workload information is managed within the care group and maximum efficiency achieved.
+ Produce and communicate a range of complex and sometimes sensitive information to support service planning, improvement and change.
+ Provide project support to the team, involving preparing plans, working to deadlines, implementing action and monitoring and reporting on progress of delivery.
+ Contribute to and support the team objective planning process.
+ To manage designated projects as required by the Clinical and operational leadership.
Staff Leadership and Management:
To provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team, in the achievement of the Trust's objectives and priorities. The Trust's success will be dependent on all managers playing an active role to make sure the existing areas of good employment practice are universally embedded within the organisation. Managers will be expected to:
+ Understand the Trust's key priorities and those of your team and translate these into key priorities for the team.
+ Ensure clarity and effectiveness in developing and designing roles
+ Ensure management of staff is consistent with Trust's HR Policies to the achievement of equality, equity and optimum performance.
+ Complete annual Appraisals for all staff which reflect these priorities and ensure staff have access to appropriate training and development
+ Communicate regularly through meetings with teams and individuals and provide opportunity for two-way feedback
+ Promote an effective team ethos.

Training and Development
+ To undertake mandatory and statutory training as required by Trust policy.
+ To contribute and commit to undertaking an annual Development Review/appraisal.
+ To undertake personal development as identified in the Personal Development Plan (PDP).
+ To provide managerial oversight and guidance to all team members.
+ To identify and promote developmental supervision to team members in conjunction with professional heads of discipline.
+ To ensure all staff receive appraisal on a regular basis in line with service policy, ensuring that training, professional and legal requirements are met.
+ To provide specific professional supervision to team members from the same profession as the post holder.
+ To monitor recommended Trust and national workloads and ensure equitable and fair distribution of tasks in the team. Review workloads with team members on a regular basis.
