Full Job Description

We are looking for someone who is highly organised and can work at pace. You will be proactive in coordination and prioritisation, have a good understanding of what's important and why, use your own judgement to ensure priorities are given the attention they need at the right time by engaging with other offices and a wide range of stakeholders to deliver.

As the Business and Strategy Support Officer, you will be the first point of call for coordinating the team feed in to commissions, Freedom on Information requests and Write Rounds, finding ways to collate and triage information for efficiency and pace.

The role directly supports 2 senior civil servants and will line manage up to 2 Diary Managers. You will have the agility to deal with different types of tasks in a fast-paced and high-profile environment with plenty of opportunity to work independently and develop your own approach to tackling challenges., Prioritisation Management: Support OfI's senior leadership to identify, flag, and resolve urgent matters, while ensuring swift decision-making and prioritisation of key tasks across the team.Secretariat and Governance: Coordinate and perform secretariat duties for meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and ensuring actions are followed through, while also helping to develop and manage governance processes for the investment pipeline with Ministers and No10.Process Development: Developing and maintaining effective processes to deliver a first-class corporate service. Such as the ability to horizon scan and coordinate critical commissions and work with the relevant teams to understand what kind of support, briefing and preparation is needed from the OfI in advance, crucially, ensuring this is delivered.Strategy Relationships: Proactively considering where gaps in relationships lay and using own initiative to build professional working relationships that
are ready to leverage when needed.Project and Strategic Support: Participate in transformational projects and live issues, such as investment cases and cross-cutting policy development.Management of operational and corporate functions: Providing leadership to business support staff in the department, including oversight and advice on logistics and diary management.

The Office for Investment (OfI) was spun out of Downing Street in January 2021 and is now a joint unit between No.10 and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). The Office's Business and Strategy Support Officer is a new role and is intended to sit at the heart of the team's operating model. The Business and Strategy Support Officer role will lead and contribute to delivering the Office for Investment's secretariat functions focusing on coordination and prioritisation of the team's efforts. This role would be particularly appealing to people who are dynamic, confident, and credible individuals, those that can learn fast to give their stakeholders a professional high-quality service.
