Full Job Description

Location: Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre or various locations across Dudley borough

Excellent opportunities have arisen to work within Assessment and Independence on Urgent Care Services and Dudley Short Term Assessment and Reablement team.

Your primary role will be to provide administrative and clerical support to Adult Social Care. This will also include working alongside health and supporting in the hospital discharge process. You need to be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. You should be able to work on your own initiative with your own workload, though you will be part of a team. You will need to be hardworking, flexible, have good attention to detail and be approachable to meet the service needs.

You will provide a comprehensive range of business support within the team and management. The role will include processing paperwork and supporting documentation for Adult Social Care with support from Social Care Staff, Health Care Professionals and Senior Management, and other Internal Teams.

You will be working 37 hours per week and will participate in a set rota which is based over a 7 day period and will include some weekends and a set number of bank holidays. Relevant weekend and bank holiday enhancements will be paid.

Main duties as below

  • Store, maintain retrieve and supply information using manual and computer systems, ensuring accurate levels of data quality.

  • Undertake a range of computerised housekeeping tasks, including data entry or correction for quality assurance purposes.

  • To respond to telephone and personal enquiries from members of the public, elected Members and colleagues from other Departments of the Council providing a quality customer care service.

  • To assist with the co-ordination of meetings: undertaking minutes, typing, agenda compilation, related correspondence, and documentation distribution.

  • General typing, filing, diary management, correspondence preparation, and general office tasks.

  • Ensure that confidentiality and data protection requirements are always maintained and adhered to

  • To respond positively to all visitors and callers, upholding the Directorate's policy on Equal Opportunities.

  • All queries and general contact should be dealt with efficiently, effectively and in a sensitive and caring manner.

    You will need to have relevant office experience and an NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent or be working towards it.


  • You may need to work flexibly, travelling across the Dudley borough and will therefore need to have the use of a vehicle.

    An exciting new team is being formed to operate the council's new adult social care short term assessment and reablement service. The service will be offering local people an efficient and effective support package post hospital discharge, while supporting the NHS to be more effective and increasing their capacity.


  • Following a hospital discharge and once home, the new team made up of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and support staff will assist people to regain their daily living skills, mobility, and independence at home, through a tailored bespoke 'reablement' therapy plan. The team will work closely and intensively with each person to meet set goals and outcomes over an agreed period. The focus will always be on promoting independence.

    Social work / care management and supervisory roles, care and support worker roles, along with physiotherapy and occupational therapy roles are being recruited to for the new team. All roles will have a clear career progression pathway within Adult Social Care, and training and development packages.
