Full Job Description

The Work Health and Skills team part of Economic Affairs are looking to recruit someone to help support with the administrative duties of the ESOL Advice Service team, working across multiple Microsoft applications and digital platforms. There will also be opportunities to get involved in the wider work of the team including the variety of different projects and events that we are responsible for delivering.

The role will be supporting the project that works with people from a variety of different communities and backgrounds, so it's really important that the person has a good understanding of some of the economic inequalities that people experience and the impact that this can have, especially on those that face multiple barriers including lack of English language. The ESOL Advice Service team works with a large number of people whose first language isn't English, so we need someone that is able to communicate effectively with this cohort and have an understanding of the different ethnic and cultural backgrounds that live across the borough.

Rochdale Council is a Cooperative Council, which involves changes in how it delivers its services, involving residents more in the decision making process and working, thinking and acting more co-operatively as a council and borough for, ultimately, the benefit of the people and the place. This will be more important than ever going forward with more partnership opportunities being developed to help improve the lives of our residents. To apply for this job role please upload your CV with a supporting statement that provides evidence of how you meet the role profile criteria of the job role and detailing information on your qualification (if applicable). You must meet all essential criteria to be shortlisted. Please ensure you anonymise your CV and supporting statement.. Interviews will take place, in person at Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale OL16 1XU on Monday 9th December and Tuesday 10th December 2024. This is a 12 month fixed term contract linked to specific external funding. At Rochdale Borough Council we are committed to our Values and Behaviours.

  • Proud of the difference we make
  • Passionate about the diversities of the Borough
  • Pioneering and Open in our Approach
