Full Job Description

Operations Command (OC), covers a number of specialist areas of policing for Surrey and Sussex Police. You will be working in the Business Support Team which will be focusing on delivering cost savings, identifying income generation opportunities and supporting the OC specialist training teams. You will be identifying efficiencies in existing spending models and exploring and implementing initiatives in cost saving by creating and maintaining an asset tracking system for Operations Command. Exploring and exploiting generating income opportunities and being the point of contact for other Forces, law enforcement agencies and College of Policing in relation to our specialist training venues and provision of services. To this end you will support and manage a marketing and customer relations strategy, promoting Surrey & Sussex Police through OC training activities as a Centre of excellence.,

  • Develop and maintain an Events Management Strategy by liaising with each OC training team to ensure best value in creating Surrey & Sussex Police to be a Centre of Excellence and establishing all of the training provided by OC to be delivered in house.
  • Develop and promote the OC Surrey and Sussex Standard through effective planning and management of training, facilities, CPD events, guest speakers and development opportunities.
  • Maintain an effective Asset Management Tracking System which identifies and enables cost saving initiatives by reviewing and streamlining existing practices and policies across the department and Force. Conduct a regular audit of all OC assets providing an efficient, professional and up to date base line. Working with SMEs researching initiatives for cost effective options. Seek and inform best practice in the design and purchase of assets.
  • To be proactive in developing income generation opportunities. Maintaining and developing the training event management plan and single point of contact for OC training teams, other police and law enforcement training teams (e.g. NCA, UKBA) as well as any other perspective customers. Creating contracts for International and National customers ensuring we are adhering to legal obligations.
  • Develop and maintain an effective marketing strategy on behalf of the OC for our income generation potential.
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers to research the procurement of goods and services for specific training course and events, ensuring these deliver an appropriate balance between costs and benefits.
  • Manage the coordination of OC team moves/changes to different areas of the estate. Working effectively and efficiently with Estates & Facilities, IT, Finance, other Command Teams and external contractors to ensure moves/changes are made whilst ensuring best value whilst in the required timeframe. Researching and trialling best practices prior to implementation.
  • Liaison with College of Policing and other awarding bodies on behalf of the force, working closely with the Development & Compliance Officer to ensure quality assurance.
  • Representing Ops Command on regional and national forums together with colleagues from Facilities. Ensuring that the operational uniform and clothing for or staff and officers is fit for purpose and cost effective.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
