Full Job Description

This CAD Engineer will report to the IM and CAD Manager and will work within UK Power Networks Services based in our head office in Elephant and Castle. You will be a permanent employee., To undertake and deliver CAD design drawings, ensuring full compliance with UKPN Services and client standards. Although initially working with the Civil team you will gain further competencies to work on any future projects within UKPN Services. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Produce design drawings to allow construction works to be delivered in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with the delivery team and client to ensure project delivery.
  • Maintain Network records and respond to third party queries promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM and UK Power Networks Health and Safety policies.
  • Compliance with UK Power Networks quality policies.
  • Operate and update Asset database in respect of project activities.
  • Ensure the compliance with the distribution safety rules during all activities.
  • You will work with minimal supervision to manage and prioritise a varied work load and be an effective problem solver with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Deliver CAD drawings to meet all project deadlines.
  • Provide technical support as part of the team to deliver all planned works in addition to all Operations and Maintenance delivery requirements.
  • Attend and contribute to team briefings, give feed-back.
  • Identify potential project risks/opportunities (raise awareness within team / company).
  • Seek continuous improvement.
  • Required to work additional hours to meet project requirements.
  • Liaise within the project team and communicate with external parties., Success will be measured by the CAD Engineer's understanding in the following areas:
  • Safety focus.
  • Technical competence.
  • Follow internal and external safety systems and quality systems.
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Health & Safety Responsibilities Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations. This includes briefing individuals working for them and ensuring there is the necessary understanding, competence and application of requirements to work safely and without harming the environment. Employees will ensure they understand the health and safety risks involved in their work activities and their responsibility to apply the controls needed to manage those risks to acceptable levels. Similarly where work activities can have an adverse impact upon the environment, and where there are legal requirements, employees will understand those impacts and the controls they must ensure are applied.

  • An experienced CAD Engineer ideally with experience of AutoCAD / AutoCAD civil and MicroStation.
  • Experience operating within a utilities environment an advantage.
  • Electrical networks experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of all MS Office packages essential.
  • Main tasks in the role include CAD layouts, coordinates, schematics, general assemblies, details, civil construction, and data collation.
  • All design work is undertaken with other utilities, gas, water, sewer
  • Knowledge of NETMAP an advantage.
  • Must have a driving licence.
  • Medical, Drugs and Alcohol screening.

    You will attract a salary of £51,245 and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote
