Full Job Description

Gap Technical are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled CAD Technician. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and documentation of electrical and lighting systems. The role includes reviewing, fine-tuning, and revising drawings to ensure precision and compliance with project specifications. A strong understanding of schematics, single-line diagrams, and the use of design tools is essential. Performance Objectives Drafting and Designing:

  • Review and update detailed technical drawings using CAD software
  • Create and modify single-line diagrams and schematics as per project requirements.
  • Revisions and Markups:
  • Incorporate red pen schematics and feedback into existing drawings to reflect necessary changes
  • Ensure revisions are documented and accurately implemented.
  • Electrical Detailing:
  • Design and layout black cable configurations based on technical specifications
  • Produce detailed drawings for small lighting systems, ensuring functionality and aesthetic considerations.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure drawings meet industry standards and project specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to resolve design inconsistencies or technical issues.
  • Documentation and Coordination:
  • Maintain accurate records of drawings and revisions
  • Coordinate with other departments to integrate designs into broader project plans.

    Diploma - CAD Design, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a CAD Technician, preferably in electrical or lighting design.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and small lighting designs
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations related to electrical systems and lighting design.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Experience in designing electrical systems and layouts for commercial or industrial projects.
