Cafe Assistant

Café Hope is a community café, which is part of Children North East, we are looking for a dynamic Community Café Assistant to support the day to day operation of the café.

The café is based within the Cowgate Centre and is an integral part of the Communities Service as part of the Community Family Hub. We have a warm welcoming community space for local people/centre users, drawing the community together, and generating hope. The café offers a high quality customer experience, including coffee, tea, cakes and meals. It also provides opportunities for volunteering for individuals and organisations.

The successful candidate will support the Café Cook with, stock control, health and safety requirements, food hygiene, preparing and cooking good quality food, quality standards, and barista style coffee making to ensure a great customer experience. Café Hope at Cowgate offers a unique opportunity to be part of Children North East.

The ideal candidate for the job must have experience of working in a café /restaurant or in a catering environment, relevant training and support will be provided.

The successful candidate will have a passion for food, cooking and will be comfortable sharing skills and encouraging learning. You will be an experienced cook comfortable with cooking a range of cuisines and an understanding in reducing food waste.

Please note this role is to work 20 hours per week and the salary is pro-rated accordingly.
