Full Job Description

We are excited to be recruiting an enthusiastic person, who is committed to tackling the climate emergency and supporting community wellbeing, to help us run the Cafe (yet to be named) in Hwb y Gors when we open in Spring 2025!

We are looking for a chef/cook who will partner closely with the Awel Aman Tawe team to make a huge success of our new low-carbon community hub for arts, education and enterprise. We would like our cafe to serve the community through the delivery of tasty, healthy vegetarian/vegan foods. We envisage our cafe becoming an important meeting place for everyone in the community of Cwmgors, visitors from further afield and the community of artists, educators and small enterprises within the centre.

Key to the delivery of the service within the centre will be to coordinate and work with centre volunteers and Hwb officers, who will undertake minimal service (light refreshments) when the Cafe Manager is not present, and to liaise with our community garden volunteers to utilize their produce.

Flexibility in working hours is required. We anticipate the opening hours to be daytime service with up to two evenings per week including Friday.

We are looking for a special person to work with us to realize this vision.

Awel Aman Tawe is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, with a programme of work to support the transition to net zero. We work on a number of projects including energy efficiency, renewable energy, community resilience, sustainable transport, community arts and education programmes. We have developed two of the largest renewable energy co-ops in the UK which have helped to support the development of Hwb y Gors.
