  • Professional leadership and clinical responsibilities
  • Provide professional leadership, advice and guidance to nursing staff
  • Implement innovative methods of service delivery to provide better patient care, and improve patient access.
  • Participate in the development of clinical policies.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of all medical devices used within the Ward
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Participate in projects that facilitate the development of best nursing practice to ensure quality patient care.
  • Participate in the provision of clinical supervision for nursing staff within the trust.
  • Participate in the provision of preceptorship and mentorship for new staff, and for staff undertaking academic courses and pathways.
  • Setting, achieving and monitoring Quality Standards.
  • Ensure the delivery of clinical governance and ensuring that the aims of clinical effectiveness are met from a nursing viewpoint.
  • Implement the agreed system of nursing audits.
  • Work within the guidelines and standards set by the NMC, and abide by Trust Policies and Procedures. The post holder will ensure compliance with the Trust's Risk Management Policies and Procedures. These describe the Trust's commitment to risk management, the recognition that our aim is to protect patients, staff and visitors from harm, and stress that all staff have a responsibility to minimise risk
  • Provide advice and act as a resource to other departments within the Trust.
