We are thrilled to be recruiting for the Maudsley Adolescent Unit (MAU), which will be located at the new Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People opening in 2025. MAU will be a general adolescent unit catering to young people aged 12-18, offering a supportive environment for those needing mental health care.
The successful candidate will have a unique and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in opening a brand-new ward at MAU. You will support and lead in developing best practices, influencing patient care strategies, and making a real impact on our services. This role is perfect for someone passionate about pioneering initiatives and driving excellence in patient care.
The Pears Maudsley Centre aims to transform the story of mental health for young people. It will host the Maudsley Adolescent Unit, King's Maudsley Partnership, Maudsley and Bethlem Hospital School, various specialist CAMHS services, and state-of-the-art clinical research facilities., You must be a qualified RMN or LD Nurse with experience of working in an in-patient mental health setting. You need to have an understanding of the challenges that face nurses caring for young people with mental health difficulties today and be able to demonstrate resilience and empathy. Most important to us is that you have a commitment and passion to want to lead an excellent service. In return you will be supported by an experienced MDT and colleagues within CAMHS.
Our senior nursing team offers a progressive and supportive environment to develop and mentor individuals by utilising in-house resources as well as strong links with external education providers and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IOPPN)., · Ensure that they are fully aware of current developments and practice in their clinical area. Acknowledge their own limitations and discuss/identify their training and development needs with their line manager.
· Make effective use of supervision with their line manager on a regular and agreed basis.
· Be aware of the need to reflect on their practice both as clinician and manager.
· Manage their time efficiently.
· Be aware of and adhere to all Trust Policies and act as a role model to other staff.
· Meet the NMC's requirements for Standards of Professional Practice, Code of Conduct and Post Registration and Practice (PREP) and Revalidation
· Recognise emotional and mental effort required to fulfil the post.
(viii) Other Responsibilities
The post-holder will also be responsible for:
· Undertaking site wide co-ordination roles as required, eg. DSN.
· Being part of the CAMHS Manager on-call rota.
· Establishing and building on excellent working relationships between other services within and external to the Directorate.
· Ensuring that systems are in place which invite service users and their carers to comment on the quality of services they receive.
· Implementation of the complaints procedure including investigation, response, and resolution.
· Ensuring that their line manager is kept informed of all developments and changes within the ward environment.
· The safe storage and administration of medications.
The creation and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to learning and which meets the educational standards required by Educational Institutions whose students are placed on the ward. The post-holder will be expected to facilitate actively
