Full Job Description

Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post. The post holder will be an integral part of the Cancer Team, who assists, supports and co-ordinates the pathway for patients from the diagnostic phase. The successful applicant will ensure the efficient channelling and close co-ordination of the patient pathway ensuring robust communication between Consultants, Cancer Nurse Specialists, Cancer MDT Co-ordinators GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other disciplines The post involves working closely with all key members of the multidisciplinary team within primary and secondary care and service users relating to cancer to ensure all patients receive a consistent and effective service:

  • Clinical Lead for Site Specific Cancer
  • Medical, nursing and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Outpatient departments (OPD), appointment booking centre, radiology, pathology.
  • Other pathway navigators
  • Clinical team secretaries
  • GP Practices.
  • Bolton has a well established cancer services team and we are looking for a new member to join us in delivering the highest standard of patient care and support from the time of referral and throughout the cancer pathway. The post holder will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and be willing to undertake on-going training and development. In addition, the post holder will be able to signpost patients and carers to the relevant sources of support and information appropriate to their needs.
