Full Job Description

This post is based in the Cancer Performance Team and full training will be provided on all aspects of managing cancer 2 week wait referrals, tracking patients through their tests and appointments to enable the team to determine if patients have cancer or not. This is an admin based role in a busy service and would suit people who like to be busy and are interested in providing a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Apprenticeships are designed to give talented people an opportunity to gain a nationally recognized qualification while completing on the job training. You will be supported to learn and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to perform in the job role. You will also have study time allocated within your working hours to gain your qualification.

For this role you will undertake a 22-month development programme in Business Administration within the Community Therapies Services , through work-based learning and by attending regular training sessions. Successfully completing the training programme will lead to an Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3.

This position is on a fixed term contract with the opportunity to become permanent once the qualification is successfully completed and achieved. The opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 3 ,booking officer within the Cancer Performance Team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust.

The role is administrative and will require great organisational skills and attention to detail as well as excellent communication skills. You will regularly liaise with clinicians and admin staff. There is a full training package accompanying this role. You will need to be able to cope well under pressure, show initiative and work well as part of a team.

The 2ww booking officer works with the cancer services to ensure that all suspected cancer patients are booked within cancer targets and cancer pathways are mapped and followed up appropriately. They also work closely with the Cancer Performance Manager and Service Managers in ensuring collection and management of the national cancer minimum data sets for all patients.

Previous experience of office/admin duties including Microsoft software packages such as Excel and working within the healthcare setting is essential , Careflow and Somerset . We will require references from your current and previous employer(s). The post holder must display a considerable degree of initiative, have mature judgement and maintain a calm, friendly and efficient manner when dealing with patients and staff.

The post holder will be required to work independently using initiative and applying a high degree of confidentiality to all of their work.

The ability to work under pressure and to prioritise the urgency of the workload from various directions is essential.

The post holder must be able to concentrate on completing tasks during periods of frequent interruptions from staff and patients. They must be able to manage deadlines with unpredictable work patterns; to be process driven and have a high attention to details., Disability Confident
