Full Job Description

Are you looking for a new challenge and the next step in your career? Do you have a passion for delivering high quality pharmaceutical care and are keen to explore developing an area of expertise? Why not apply to join us at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, Pharmacy Department?

The Pharmacy department at the RUH is a forward thinking, dynamic and innovative team with a strong clinical and patient focus.

We are excited to offer a fantastic development opportunity for an exceptional pharmacist to work within our Clinical Trials Pharmacy team and Aseptic Services and Radiopharmacy Unit. You will be a key player in providing pharmaceutical services to patients being treated in our newly opened Dyson Cancer Centre, which opened in April 2024.

This role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a specialist area as well as develop your leadership skills. It will also be useful to those working towards developing an Advanced Pharmacist portfolio as this role involves working across all five pillars of advanced practice, particularly research and leadership skills.

For internal candidates, we would support a move into this role as a secondment.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities will involve participating in the pharmacy aspects of running Oncology/Haematology clinical trials as well as collaborating with clinical teams to set up new trials in this speciality. You will be a central point of contact for trial sponsors and healthcare professionals both internally and externally. The role will also involve attending online national and international clinical trials meetings.

The role will also include duties as an authorised pharmacist in the Aseptic and Radiopharmacy unit. This provides an invaluable chance to learn about Pharmacy Quality Systems and how to manage change and mitigate risks.

In your role you will also adhere to ICH - Good Clinical Research Practice Guidelines whilst maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

At the RUH we put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone's contribution in supporting the exceptional, person-centred care we pride ourselves on.

We are proud to be in the top 20 best hospitals to work for in the country.

We are committed to creating a compassionate and inclusive environment. This can be seen in our growing community of staff networks - celebrating successes and creating opportunities to listen and learn. We value our differences, champion kindness and civility, and truly believe that diversity makes us stronger.

A culture of learning, developing and innovating is the thread that runs throughout our whole organisation. We want to support you to thrive, taking your career to its full potential.

We value staff wellbeing, with a well-established programme of support. We believe in a holistic approach spanning all aspects of living a healthy life, including physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellbeing. We've even got a pool!
