Full Job Description

  • Help Finance team at units to ensure the development of a working environment that is conducive to the achievement of budgeted Department KPIs of Capex.
  • Review all Capex proposals from units.
  • Review approved Capex has been on track and adhere to conditions allowed.
  • Manage the installation and maintenance of Capex control and reporting systems to provide management with accurate and timely information and advice to optimize Capex.
  • Assist in the annual development of both the annual Capex budget, and rolling 5-year plan .
  • Regular financial modelling of key Capex projects.
  • Helps in review of major construction packages.
  • Analysis from NPV, IRR and PAY BACK perspectives for all Capex proposals.
  • Review and analyse accuracy of all Capex files on continuous/ periodic basis.
  • Ensure that appropriate internal controls exist, have been documented and are effective at all sites consistent with the control framework used by units.
  • Work in conjunction with site management to ensure that control weaknesses identified are addressed in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Facilitate the implementation of Capex controlling practices and policies across the organisation.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the BAR Quarterly report, Capex deviations analysis.
  • Manage the development of the annual budget and forecasts and calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to line manager.
  • Review all capex files along with unit capex team and provides feedback to line manager.
  • Safety
  • Provide leadership necessary to ensure that employees and any contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that meet or exceed industry standards and any applicable legislation.
  • Actively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and implement change as directed by the management.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensure all health and hygiene risks in the work areas are identified and controlled.

    Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university or Engineering degree with relevant experience in capital evaluation - CMA/CA/ACCA certification.
  • Minimum 7-8 years of experience, out of which 5 years in a Capex controlling department, preferably in mining organisation.
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly skilled and experienced personnel having diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Able to deliver results on quoted targets.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
  • Well spoken (command of English & French).
  • Adaptability and resilience.
  • Good working and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and advance spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
