Full Job Description

This is a fixed term contract role until December 2024, the role is part time - 3 days per week (21.6 hours)

Put simply, we set the standards by which everything is measured. In doing so, the National Physical Laboratory is helping to combat issues on a global scale such as climate change, curing diseases and the development of cutting-edge communications technology.

As our Capital and Asset Co-ordinator you'll ensure our fixed assets are correctly accounted for and up-to-date. Joining our Central Finance Team in our Finance Department, you'll be supporting the Asset Manager with his day-to-day duties and month-end reporting.

What you'll be doing:

  • Liaise with the Asset Manager to create new capital projects and update existing projects to reflect changes provided by the business and review capital cases submitted by the business, ensuring that the projects align with the approved prioritised plan.

  • Liaise with the Asset Manager & Procurement team to create new requisitions, and to amend requisitions as required.

  • Ensure that all documentation has been completed and signed off at the appropriate level.

  • Liaise with other members of the Central Finance team to aid communication with asset holders during the capitalisation process.

  • Liaise with the team and asset holders to check details and update assets to reflect any changes in the information held and to terminate or dispose of assets as appropriate.

  • Assist the Asset Manager in the preparation of monthly reporting on capital expenditure.

    You'll be a hardworking individual who is, motivated and pro-active with strong organisational and communication skills who will be responsible for the capital accounting function, ensuring our fixed assets are recorded accurately and promptly., Previous experience in capital accounting in a large organisation

  • Excellent communication skills

  • The ability to deal with a range of stakeholders at all levels

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
