Full Job Description

Structural Heart Intervention Clinical Nurse Specialist is central to all aspects the clinical pathway (elective and in-patient) for patients being considered for, undergoing and recovering from Structural Heart Valve Intervention. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of care to a caseload of patients independently carrying out clinical assessmentsTo provide specialist professional nursing service working with patients and their families / carers throughout the patient pathway, providing individualised patient specific specialist support and advice before, during and after TAVI / structural heart interventionLiaise and work closely with cardiology consultants, cardiac surgeons and cardiac anaesthetists, middle grade doctors and ward staff as well as specialists from other disciplines (respiratory, renal, haematology etc.) and colleagues from referring DGH and Primary Care to achieve the best possible outcome for this complex patient groupTo participate in Structural heart
intervention MDT and be part in the clinical consideration of patients' suitability for trans-catheter heart valve intervention and ensuring timely clinical decision making for each individual patientTo be part of the nursing component of the structural heart intervention service, demonstrating advanced interpersonal skills to achieve successful negotiation with senior members of the multi-professional team and other stake holders., To participate in the provision of specialist nursing patient-centred care, advice and support to patients with structural heart valve disease and their families / carers through the clinical pathway - work up process, treatment and recovery

Demonstrate ability to critically analyse and apply research-based findings to nursing practice. Participate in relevant audit, research and development activity, on a multi professional basis.

Demonstrate the ability to manage own workload independently and autonomously, as well as working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-professional team

Be responsible to Structural Heart Intervention Lead Nurse in respect of guidance and professional management, work review and formal appraisal of performance and further development

Responsible to the Structural Heart Intervention Lead Nurse in respect of guidance and professional management and to Structural Heart Intervention Cardiology Consultants for the clinical aspect of the service
