Appropriate training to the role will be provided, in addition to all research training days and support from senior colleagues.
The Cardiology Research nurse will be expected to approach patients to participate in studies and will be involved in managing and assisting the team with practical assessments as part of research studies. These may include questionnaires, vital signs, collection of samples including blood, urine and swabbing. The post holder will be required to complete all administrative duties associated with these assessments including entering results on to a computer-based data collection portals.
The Cardiology Research nurse will report to the senior research nurses & research sister. Cardiology Research studies are delivered within the Trust currently across five days of the week and throughout the day, but research nurses should be flexible in their work patterns to deliver this service if required by studies. The post holder will be required to work shifts including occasional evenings and some weekends. The team comprises of: 1 WTE Band 7, 5.4 WTE Band 6 nurses, 0.8 WTE Band 5 Trial coordinator & 1 WTE Band 4 Trial coordinator., We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced nurse to work as part of the Cardiology Research team at the Bristol Heart Institute. Experience in cardiovascular disease and/or acute care setting will be advantageous.
Working closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team, you will be supporting a portfolio of non-complex clinical trials and will be trained to deliver their treatment in Cardiology. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills (both written and verbal), as well as meticulous attention to details, to ensure patient safety and accurate and comprehensive data collection. The post holder will ensure that the research is undertaken within research governance and good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines and safeguards the wellbeing of participants.

The position is available on a fixed-term contract for up to 1-year full time. Secondments from clinical areas will be welcomed after previous agreements with line managers. The work pattern will be Monday to Friday but may include some evenings and some occasional weekends to meet requirements of various studies., the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
