Full Job Description

  • The Cardiology Research Team manages a range of clinical studies, both observational and interventional, covering various aspects of cardiology.
  • This includes acute coronary syndrome (ACS, trans-catheter valve intervention (TAVI), electrophysiology (EP) and heart failure and inherited cardiac conditions.
  • We collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team (Consultants, Specialist Nurses, and Cardiac Physiologists) and liaise directly with the Wards, Cardiac Catheter Laboratories, Cardiac Outpatients and Cardiac Investigations for referring, screening, and approaching eligible patients for our studies.
  • We recruit patients with various diagnoses including individuals with low-complexity conditions and with no comorbidities such as patients requiring only single percutaneous coronary intervention, but also individuals with high-complexity and life-threatening conditions such as severe left ventricular dysfunction associated with extensive coronary artery disease and poor renal function.

  • Ability to work autonomously in a diverse role.

  • Pay attention to details- accurate data collection.
  • Knowledge about the research authorities, regulatory bodies, protocols.
  • Conducting presentations to inform colleagues about what we do in research.
  • Support Principal Investigators and Sub-Investigators and senior research nurses.
  • Setting up new trials.
  • Ward base clinical skills are transferrable and sets a good foundation.
  • Understanding of the science behind the Protocol.
  • Act as an advocate for patients/participants taking part in the trial.
