An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to apply for ST3+ Registrar to work in the Cardiac Surgery Service within University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. This is an opportunity to consolidate clinical skills in a centre with a strong track record of research and training. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated trainee seeking a long-term career in Cardiac Surgery. We are ambitious and progressive and committed to continuing our quality journey so that we can exceed our patient's expectations., They will work co-operatively with colleagues and peers to provide a quality service at Registrar level within Cardiac Surgery. Candidates should have at least 2 years experience at Registrar level or equivalent and will be expected to work on the Registrar on call rota.

Glenfield Hospital has increased the number of patients treated, introduced service developments and expanded the range of treatments available. We have also gained an excellent reputation for the quality of service we provide. This has been recognised by the results in the Quality Health Patients' Satisfaction Survey as well as achieving full accreditation by the Health Quality Service (formally known as the King's Fund)., Our new strategy, 'Leading in healthcare, trusted in communities' was developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners and is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030). We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
  • And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities. Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team
  • This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
