Full Job Description
I am a disabled mother of two, a professional disabled dancer, dance educator, and disability advocate. My life is a vibrant blend of family commitments and a fulfilling career, which I manage alongside a neurological condition that impacts my energy levels and mobility. To live independently, safely, and as healthily as possible, I am funded through a PHB (Personal Health Budget), which allows me to have the support I need. Due to my health requirements and the physically demanding nature of family life, I need someone with me for most of the time. Having the right support in place is truly life-changing. When my access needs are met, I'm unstoppable-able to make a positive impact both within my family and through my professional work. Why should I apply for this Support Worker job? Join our warm and loving family in a role that is both varied and rewarding. From supporting family activities to helping with childcare and household tasks, no two days are the same. I strive to create a flexible, happy working environment for everyone on our team. This self-employed role offers competitive pay at £15 per hour, with flexibility to suit your schedule. Additionally, you'll have access to my car during working hours to support our activities. If you're looking for meaningful work in a supportive and dynamic environment, we'd love to hear from you! What does this Support Worker job involve? The role involves varied responsibilities based on my health needs and our family's activities. Key tasks include:
- Accompanying me to social and family outings, shopping, and other activities, ensuring I can access these environments safely.
- Driving me and my children to their activities is an essential part of the role.
- Childcare support is also needed, such as taking over when I'm unwell, assisting with homework, tidying bedrooms, preparing healthy meals and snacks, and helping with bathtime and bedtime routines.
- You will assist with household tasks, including changing beds, cleaning bathrooms and floors, and other physically demanding chores.
- Food preparation for the adults in the household is required, as well as pet care when needed, including feeding and walking our miniature poodle.
- Additionally, you will provide health support, such as managing seizures and other needs, with full training provided. Your role will be vital in ensuring our family life remains active, balanced, and well-supported. Am I the right person for this Support Worker job? We are looking for:
- Reliable, energetic, and compassionate individuals who can adapt to the dynamic needs of our family with a positive attitude.
- A full, clean driving license is essential, as the role involves driving, childcare, housekeeping, and supporting my health needs.
- Proactivity in engaging with young children is crucial, and experience with children who have autism and ADHD is helpful but not mandatory.
- Successful applicants will need to undertake essential training, including seizure management, to ensure my safety.
- You must take pride in maintaining a clean, organized home and assist with food preparation for the whole family.
- It's important that you approach my disability with understanding and respect, without underestimating my capabilities.
- Patience, positivity, and a caring, flexible attitude are key to managing my neurodivergent children and supporting a loving, supportive family environment.
