Full Job Description

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the care coordinator team may include any or all of the items in the following list.

  • Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the senior receptionist/practice manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:

  • Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system

  • Book appointments for clinical staff in accordance with Practice Policy

  • Take telephone and face to face requests for appointments and deal in a calm, courteous and helpful manner.

  • Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail

  • Taking messages and passing on information

  • Filing and retrieving paperwork

  • Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines

  • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation/ clinical coding; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures

  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers

  • Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning

  • Keeping the reception area, noticeboards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter

    The Practice provides GP services to the expanding areas of Northern Milton Keynes. There are now Four partners, and a large multi-disciplinary team of other professionals and support staff. All are committed to providing patients with a high quality and personal service.


  • The surgery

    The building has been designed to provide a pleasant and welcoming environment and it is equipped to very high standards. There is a large free car park. Please park considerately to allow maximum use.

    The area nearest the surgery entrance is reserved for disabled patients. For patients who are disabled there is easy access, and all consulting rooms are on the ground floor.
