Full Job Description

The Cared for Children nurse will work as an integral part of a multi-agency service to provide a seamless pathway for the holistic care of Cared for Children. The post holder will improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Cared for Children living within the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale area through high quality statutory health need assessments, health promotions, health care reviews and tailored interventions. The post holder will work in accordance with the guidance document: 'Promoting the Health and Wellbeing of Looked after Children' (DH & DoE 2015). They will also have a good knowledge of other key documentation.,

  • Organise and manage own caseload of Cared for Children.

  • Take responsibility for arranging and providing appropriate cover of caseload during any period of study or annual leave with a discussion with line manager.

  • Deputise for the Specialist Nurse in their absence.

  • Use effective negotiating skills, effective communication and influence to ensure the health and wellbeing of Cared for Children are prioritised at every opportunity.

  • Have responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others and comply at all times with the requirement of the health and safety regulations, including risk assessment and adhering to lone working policies and proper use of the equipment provided.

  • Ensure confidentiality at all times, in accordance with the data protection act and its amendments.

  • Keep up to date with, and work in accordance to Trust policies and procedures.

  • Keep up to date with, and work in accordance to Adult and Children Safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • Work in accordance with the trusts equality and diversity policy.

  • Comply with the trust no smoking policy.

  • Hold a full driving licence and have full access to a vehicle for work purposes. Be prepared and able to travel beyond Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale boundaries on occasions.
