Full Job Description

Group Print & Operations fulfil our customer requirements across the world, printing, packing and despatching millions of examination items securely to our customers around the world. We are also responsible for managing the life changing scripts returned from our learners, preparing them for physical or digital assessment. You will be leading the Environment & Sustainability program, working closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement local and wider reaching strategies to deliver our strategic aims. This role will be challenging, wide ranging, but ultimately rewarding as you drive initiatives to reduce our impact on the environment and support our wider Sustainability efforts. You'll be drawing on a range of specific subject matter knowledge as well as utilising skills in data, analysis and reporting whilst exhibiting excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. As the Environment & Sustainability Manager you'll be coming to work with a highly motivated team recognised for outstanding performance and perpetual drive for continuous improvement. Principal Accountabilities

  • Decarbonisation: Identify and implement roadmaps/action plans to achieve agreed Science Based Target (SBT) Scope 1, 2 & 3 pathways and decarbonisation commitments across operations. Primarily leading Scope 3 activities but with close coordination of Scope 1 & 2 work with others.
  • Data & Reporting: Coordinate the collection of all required environmental data in line with best practice reporting methodologies. Build reporting frameworks for capturing data, working alongside service partners and internal teams to improve accuracy, scope and automation
  • Thought Leadership: Provide in-depth subject matter knowledge across all Scope 3 categories and sustainable procurement. Help to generate and promote the environment programme, developing internal awareness and culture; working collaboratively with staff networks, the wider sustainability team, and other interested parties. Develop and support training for staff on various environmental issues.
  • Environmental Management System: Working with the GPaO Risk & Compliance Manager and other sustainability colleagues, contribute to the maintenance and development of the organisation's ISO14001 certification, compliance and support continuous improvement thereof. Undertaking internal audit and ensuring non-conformances are adequately investigated and preventative actions implemented.
  • Working Groups: Lead on behalf of GPaO to the work of relevant environmental working groups, supporting their activities and helping to ensure alignment with organisational environment strategy and policies.
