JOB SUMMARY To provide domiciliary care to service users in their day-to-day lives, enabling them to live more fulfilling lives whilst helping them remain in their own home by providing high-quality person-centred care, supporting the service user to undertake, a wide range of care needs, taking into account their individual personality and lifestyle choices. This role will require the Caregiver to be flexible and to work a range of shift patterns including alternate weekends. You will be kind, caring and compassionate and be passionate about making a difference to the quality of life for our service users. MAIN DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES The role of a Caregiver is varied and largely depends on the service users youre working with. These duties include: Providing high quality person centred care to service users in their own homes in accordance with their support plan Providing personal care duties such as washing, dressing, bathing, toileting and medication monitoring and/or assistance with these activities Administering medications Shopping and meal preparation support Supporting with domestic, daily living tasks including cleaning Helping service users to access the community, socialise and undertake leisure activities Manual handling, using equipment where required Promoting service users health and wellbeing, independence and enabling them to live their life to the fullest Being flexible to work a range of shift patterns including alternate weekends Maintaining appropriate records to meet the needs of the service, observing and promptly reporting changes or concerns in your service users circumstances
or condition. Treating service users with dignity and respect, communicating effectively to meet their diverse needs MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ROLES The post holder has a responsibility to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk and will be trained to the appropriate level as determined by the post. CAREGIVER PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualfications: NVQ 2 or willing to work towards Diploma in Health and Social Care Care Certificate - Desirable Training: Willingness to participate in training relevant for this post including the Care Certificate - Essential Specific Skills Using your skills to make a real difference to service users and their families at a very difficult time in their lives - Essential Excellent listening skills and an ability to build up a rapport with people - essential Respect for individuals, regardless of their race, gender, culture - Essential An understanding of the importance of confidentiality - Essential A friendly, caring and sensitive approach
