Full Job Description
A committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant is required to support a 16-year-old boy, with diagnosis of ASD and complex social and emotional needs. Support him to enjoy his activities in the community, building his independence, encourage him and build friendships. Hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance, most likely spread over the week to fit in with his activities. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable him to have the support with the assistance of a PA. Main Duties:
- Support and encourage him with activities in the community
- Support and encourage to try new activities and skills to improve his confidence and abilities.
- Ensure his safety at all times during your working period.
- Become a friend and engage in conversations.
- Local to the area would be beneficial
- Support and encourage with independent living skills
- Previous PA experience with young people with ASD is preferable but not essential
Knowledge/experience with ASD preferred - Active and energetic
- Proactive individual with local knowledge.
- A good sense of humour.
- Caring, honest, responsible, and patient.
- Flexibility around hours of work
- Reliable with good time keeping.
- Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship
- Good communication A full driving license and use of a car is required. You must have business use on your insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata). Sick pay at SSP rate if earning £120.00 or more per week. Training provided to support you in your role. This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant.
