Full Job Description

Due to our current caretaker securing a new post, Sutton-cum-Lound Primary School requires a new Caretaker. Working a 20 hour week you will be required to clean and maintain the building and offer a range of caretaking services for the benefit of pupils, parents and staff. The successful candidate will be the main key holder for the site and will have overall responsibility for looking after the cleanliness and janitorial aspects of the building on a day to day basis. You will be working with a cleaner already employed by the school. It is essential that the school is cleaned and maintained to a very high standard to ensure the environment is conducive to the delivery of education for the children. Sutton-cum-Lound Primary School has been successful in securing a range of grants and funding over recent years to improve the site and resources within school and we need the successful candidate to take pride in the appearance of the whole school site, to maintain a high level of presentation to both the interior and exterior of the building. We would like the successful candidate to carry out handy person duties and support staff in providing resources for the children to enhance their learning experiences e.g. constructing role play areas in the classroom. There may be some additional overtime hours for these tasks as well as for the gardening and up-keep of the external areas to school. The successful candidate will be required to work 2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday, locking up the building at the end of this shift. The post will require you to work predominately using your own initiative and you will be expected to program your own daily routine to meet the needs of the site, working closely with staff. The school is proud of its' achievements and commitment to all of its' pupils reaching their full potential and we are looking forward to the successful candidate joining the team. Previous experience of this type of work would be advantageous but ideally we are looking for someone with interest and a high degree of commitment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff, children and visitors to the school. Completed applications to be sent in to the school office or emailed to by Friday 10th January 12 noon. Interested candidates should note in their application form why they feel they will be suitable for the post and the skills and attributes they have to fulfil this very important school role. A tour can be arranged on the morning of 6th January If required. Any queries about the post can be directed to . This email account will be monitored intermittently over the Christmas period.
