Full Job Description

Casual Exam Invigilator Salary:£13.77 (this includes holiday component) Required from: ASAP Selection on a rolling basis with a final close date of Friday 22nd November About the Role We are seeking reliable, flexible, enthusiastic and committed applicants to join our team in providing invigilation for both internal pre-public examinations (PPEs) and external examinations on a casual basis throughout the academic year. Previous experience is not required as full training will be provided, however, experience in working with young people would be an advantage. The position requires someone who has availability during term time but who can also commit to a minimum of six sessions per week, in a combination of both morning and afternoon sessions, during the peak examination periods of May-June, Nov-Dec, Feb-Mar. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a keen sense of attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be a confident and reassuring presence to candidates in exam rooms, able to give and follow instructions, have basic IT skills and, most importantly, remain calm under pressure. The role of the invigilator is to ensure that examinations are conducted according to the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), Awarding Body and Lister Community School Regulations and Instructions in order to:

  • ensure all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities;
  • ensure the security of the examination before, during and after the examination;
  • prevent possible candidate malpractice;
  • prevent possible administrative failures.

Our vision is to provide a world class international education for young people in Newham. Over the last ten years we have significantly raised academic standards and are now the school of choice for our local community. In December 2018, Ofsted found that the school has maintained the good quality of education and 'made strong progress in many aspects of the school's provision' since our previous inspection in September 2013. Our many strengths are highlighted, including how students are 'courteous and articulate' and 'enjoy school and value the wide range of opportunities they are given'. We are very proud that the report recognises our high aspirations, the hard work and good behaviour of our students, and the dedication and commitment of our staff.
