At Lancaster City Council we aim to have a diverse workforce that is representative of the district that we serve, and provide a working environment where each employee feels able to bring their whole self to work. We welcome applications from all sections of our community and provide several supportive and inclusive workplace networks and safe spaces for employees to feel connected. Our workplace wellbeing strategy drives our commitment to staff wellbeing initiatives and ensuring that our organisation is a great place to work for all.
We are seeking to recruit casual employees to our Waste and Recycling Team. We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals, to assist in the delivery of waste collection, within a very high-profile service.
The work can be varied and interesting and it is essential that you can appreciate the important contribution these services have in improving our local environment and the image of the area. You must possess good communication skills and be a quick learner, undertaking tasks with a minimum of supervision. You will be required to work both as part of a team and on your own. You will work in adverse weather conditions, and you will handle waste and recycling.
Full training will be given to the successful candidates. You must be physically fit and able to undertake a range of duties and heavy manual work, including the collection of refuse and recycling. A willingness to train and use the bin lifting mechanisms of a variety of vehicles to load a variety of receptacles is essential.
These posts are casual. The hours of work for these positions are to be arranged but successful candidates will be expected to make themselves available at least three days per week Monday to Friday from 0700 to 1645. These posts are based at White Lund Depot.
