We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Buyer to join our growing Digital & IT Category team, where you'll support several upcoming projects. You'll help with a delegated category portfolio to implement strategic sourcing, develop customer relationships, and work to strengthen relationships with existing key suppliers.

This position is predominantly home based, but there is an expectation to attend our Salford office once/ twice per month and/ or where business needs are required.

What you'll be doing:

  • Acting as first point of contact for collaborators of all levels supporting and assisting in an efficient and timely manner in order to establish and build on existing relationships.

  • Delivering a strategic procurement and commercial service for our Public Sector organisation client partners with an allocated portfolio of categories.

  • Supporting the Category Managers with collecting, and analysing data to help predict forecasts and trends, handling and processing customer feedback.

  • Supporting the wider team with general administrative and tasks.

  • Future proofing contract decisions by conducting robust research and fact-based market intelligence to support the adoption of innovation, evaluation and supporting the evaluation and award process.

  • Supporting the end-to-end tender process ensuring all parties are well advised.


  • What you'll bring:
  • Experience of working within a procurement setting.

  • Experience of handling a shared mailbox.

  • Excellent IT and Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word and Outlook).

  • Data input/ extract experience.

  • Collaborator management.

  • Project management.


  • It would be great if you had:
  • CIPS or willingness to undertake.

  • Experience and/or knowledge or working with the NHS and/or Public Sector.

  • Knowledge of Procurement Contract Regulations 2015 and New Procurement Act 2023.

  • Knowledge/ experience of Procurement ERP systems, eSourcing tools.
