Full Job Description

As Category Manager you will lead and develop sourcing initiatives for Professional Services category. You will provide category expertise to focus on strategic sourcing, content expertise and value delivery whilst actively managing significant risk and issues with suppliers.

You'll help us make health happen by

  • Developing, implementing and delivering a comprehensive category plan for Professional Services which has a clear savings/opportunity pipeline

  • Responsibility for total UK expenditure in your area to ensure products and services are sourced competitively and cost effectively to meet and enhance the businesses' requirements


  • Leading on supplier selection and qualification and managing relationships with key suppliers using contemporary supplier relationship management techniques

  • Identifying and delivering multiple cost saving initiatives to achieve individual and department targets.

  • Leading on contract negotiations on behalf of the organisation and developing negotiation plans

    Significant Category Management experience across Professional Services

  • Proven ability and experience of delivering savings through driving strategic category planning

  • MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification and/ or evidence of continued professional development

  • Experienced negotiator who is proficient at drawing upon and developing fact-based negotiation plans and operating at a senior level

  • Comprehensive experience of working closely with stakeholders to ensure a successful commercial outcome

  • Industry and marketplace experience relevant to this role including knowledge of relevant industry legislation would be an advantage
